The 2024 Cadott Hornets Volleyball team has had a strong start to their season and are looking to have another successful season with a primarily rookie team. In anticipation for upcoming games, junior Haley Mathison said, “I expect us to do well, and I am excited to see how the team grows together.” The Hornets had their first in-season tournament in mid-Sept., taking second. Team leaders for the tournament were Mathison with 32 kills and junior Karlee Davis with 69 assists. The tournament consisted of Unity, Luther, Thorp, Turtle Lake, and Mondovi. The Hornets started this year's conference strong by sweeping Thorp in their first game on Sept. 17. In this game, senior Kasey Moldrem had 11 kills, and senior Rilei Weeks had 25 digs. The team together had ten aces. Varsity opposite, junior Kennedy Nerdrum, said, “I want our team to play to our fullest potential, particularly against McDonell.” The team’s next game is in Fall Creek on Tuesday, Oct. 1. Parents’ Night will be at home against McDonell on Thursday, Oct. 3, and Senior Night will be at home against Bloomer on Thursday, Oct. 10. Even though the varsity team has lots of new faces, all of the girls are stepping up and getting prepared for the remainder of the season.
