The Cadott Cross Country team officially started their 2024 season on Aug. 19. The senior crew for the 2024 season includes Adrianna Goodman, McKenna Steinke, Cortney Weggen, Lyla Weggen, and Mia Weggen. Steinke participates in cross country because “I feel better after I go for a run.” The team’s first home meet of the season was on Sept. 24 at Whispering Pines Golf Course. Elementary physical education teacher Dan Yeager is the new head coach for the cross country team and is thrilled to have taken this position for Cadott. The team also has a new assistant coach, fifth-grade teacher Kat Waldera, who is a positive role model for the team. For many of the early meets of the season, the weather has been sunny, and the temperature has gotten up to 90 degrees. This has led to extra challenges for the runners because running 3.1 miles in hot, humid weather, and just running in general, takes great effort, but the Hornets have persisted through the heat. During practice, the weather has varied from rainy and cool to sunny and hot. The Cadott Cross Country runners are excited for this season and work hard every single day!
